Indian Institute of Science Education & Research is set up at Kolkata by the Government of India at par with IITs and IISc Bangalore. The institute offers a programme of five-year integrated Masters of Science in the schools of Physical sciences, Life sciences and Mathematics and Information sciences. In addition, there is full-fledged research activity in a network arrangement with neighboring institutions. Until the institute gets its own premises at Haringhata, Kalyani ready, the teaching and research programmes have already started from 16th August, 2006 in the salt Lake campuses of IIT and NITTR.
