Qualification : At least first class Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Technology in Electronics & Communication Engg/ Mechanical Engg/ Computer Science & Engg/ Electrical Engg./ Metallurgical Engg. or first class Master’s Degree in Science in Chemistry/ Physics from a recognized University or equivalent in respective/ relevant discipline.

Age Limit : The upper age limit is 28 years for DRDO and 30 years for ADA (as on 31st May 2007). It is relaxable for SC/ST/OBC/HH/OH candidates in respect of vacancies reserved for them as per rules in vogue.

Application Form : After ensuring that the above eligibility conditions are satisfied, candidates are required to apply in the Electronically Scannable Application Form specified for DRDO SET - 2007. These application forms with the information brochure containing the syllabus and instructions for filling the application will be available at the designated Branches of State Bank of India from 1st May 2007 to 31st May 2007 to General/OBC candidates on payment of Rs. 300/- (Rs. 100/-for the application form with information brochure and Rs. 200/- as Exam. fees). For SC/ST candidates there is no Exam fees and the application form with information brochure will be available to such candidates on payment of Rs 100/- only. Forms purchased from the designated Branches of State Bank of India should be filled in accordance with the instructions given in information brochure. Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), introduces Research and Teaching Assistantship (RTA) Scheme

This is a new scheme of IGNOU designed to meet the high quality human resource requirements in teaching and research in the areas of highly technology-intensive Open and Distance Learning, ICT, Web, Satellite-based and online learning in the various discipline of higher education.

Profile : The scheme is open to post-graduate degree holders with a consistently top academic record and who would like to do teaching and research in discipline-based ODL pedagogy.

Job Location : The RTA scheme will be tenable in all Schools and Academic/Training Divisions/Institutes of IGNOU in the Hq, Regional Centres of the University, State Open Universities, Distance Education Institutes and any other institution recognised by the University for this purpose.

Responsibilities : The RTA selected under the scheme has to do full-time research under an approvedd guide and can be registered for Ph.D. under the rules of the university. The RTA has also teaching responsibilities for minimum of 5 hrs a week alongwith full-time research.

Duration : The RTA will be initially for a period of 3 yearsl; after this based on a progress evaluation the RTA will be upgraded to the senior category for a further maximum period of 2 years.

Emoluments : the emolumnets during the first 3 years will be Rs.10000/- PM with an annual contingent grant of Rs.20000/-. For the senior category for the 4th, 5th year, the RTA monthly emolument will be Rs.12000/-. An amount of Rs.5000/- p.a. will be paid as overhead charges to the institution where the RTA is availed.
